Trial version testing underwhelming
I'm testing the latest version as a new user. I have it on a couple of PCs.
The exact functionality I was looking for was non-stop backup to a NAS (WD 4TB).
Specifically I have the issue of the program not running reliably day after day (Testing on Windows 7 and 8.1 machines, both seem as unreliable) and manual restarts of either the program or the service don't resume non-stop back; only a reboot does.
The other more worrying one was the inability to restore a test machine. I booted from the very nice restore CD and attempted to restore a Win7 test machine from its non-stop backup. The process was quite unbelievably slow (3 days quoted on screen, but it went on for 5 days uninterrupted) but when completed and rebooted it failed to boot.
Luckily I'd imaged the system with Clonezilla prior to the test. Clonezilla then restored the image (from the same NAS) in under 30 mins. I fully appreciate the difference between file and block level restores - I used this as an example of the underlying hardware not being an issue.
Am I having a very unusual experience, or is this the current state of play on this software.
Thanks.
