Trouble Creating System Image
I have Acronis True Image 2010 (Build 7154), with the Plus Pack.
System is Windows 7 x64, with 16GB RAM.
I have been trying to create a System Image of my disk 2, which Includes a Primary NTFS 1.16TB (380 Used) Partition (C:\) and a NTFS Reserved (Primary, Active) Partition of 100MB.
I am trying to run the image onto an empty F:\ Drive (NTFS) that has 1.22TB Free. This drive does have an Ubuntu & Linux Swap partition as well, which I'm not considering in the backup.
Every time I run this job, which I've deleted and re-created, I end up with a system error after about two hours.
In the Log: After "Saving parition structure"
I get File I/O Error, followed by "The system cannot find the file specified", followed by "Failed to open file '{0}' for reading. Error:{1}.
I did notice the backup seems to have put itself in a very odd location on the C: drive even though F:\ was specified!!!
C:\Users\{myuser}\Virtual Machines\IBM DOS 7.0\System__1_9_2011.tib
I've attached the AcronisInfo and AcronisReport.
Thanks,
Jason

Your error screen seems to show that an incrmental is being created and cannot find the base backup. Suggest you start over with a new task and see if you get the same results. Another alternative is to boot from the TI Rescue CD and perform your desired backup.

Hi Colin,
Thank you for your help. It sounded promising, though it didn't quite work out. I went in and deleted the backups from Acronis. It still left the file in
C:\Users\Jason\Virtual Machines\IBM DOS 7.0 even though I never ever pointed a backup set at that location. I had no choice but to delete it by hand. I've been specifying F:\MyBackups and somehow it ends up there. Is there some issue ATI is having with the fact that I have .vhd files and have some machines I run with Windows Virtual PC?
I also deleted the logs and all jobs.
Then I ran Chckdsk, and rebooted, and ran a repair install, and rebooted once more.
The backup is currently running, but I can see again it's put itself in: C:\Users\Jason\Virtual Machines\IBM DOS 7.0 again.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for your help!
I believe it was still in the process of creating the first Full Backup when it failed. I've deleted the task and have created another, but it's still ending up in my Virtual Machines Folder (C:\Users\Jason\Virtual Machines\IBM DOS 7.0) even though I'm specificy F:\My Backups. That boggles my mind! It seems to have picked this folder at random.
I may have to try the Rescue CD option, although if I have to do that long term, it's probably not the best.
I have run chkdsk, did the reboot, repair install, reboot again, deleted all tasks, and started from scratch.
I won't know if I'm still getting the errors until a little later, it generally takes 2 hours to complete.
Thanks,
Jason

Can you post any screen snips of the task setup screens and possibly the task log again.
TIH will recognise that VHD files are on the system, but that shouldn't be cause of the problem.
Just to check, you're not running TIH from within a VM are you?

Jason,
You might want to check your scripts in c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts
Right click on each script and visually control that it matches your tasks.
Delete any script that is not clearly linked to the tasks you want to keep.
It happened to me that some scripts were leftover after removing (not deleting) backups from the UI and created issues.

Hi Colin,
No definitely not running Win 7 or TI from within a VM.
Here are the screenshots....The task is still running, so I'll send a new log later if there is anything of interest there after it finishes.
Thanks,
Jason

Next silly thought - the VM machine folder, is it a shared or mapped folder?
After the image has finished, Pat-L's idea is worth pursuing. I don't think I've heard of your problem before.

Yep, the Backup had a similar Error. I will check Pat-L's script advice.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for your help....
The one (and only script in this folder) appears to be referencing the correct path!
volume_location uri="F:\My Backups\MyBackup__@date@.tib" volume_id="0"
