True Image 2010 freezes when mounting backup

Thread needs solution

I have True Image 2010 Build 7046. When I try to mount a backup, a dialog appears that reads 'Assigning drive letters' or something similar. The process never finishes and my pc becomes unresponsive. I am running Win XP Pro with all the latest patches.

While you get your issue resolved, if you need to access the backup to get a couple files, you can still do so using the Explore option. Right click on the *.tib file and choose Explore. Also note the other Acronis options available from the right click menu.

On your problems, if trying to mount multiple partitions, try mounting only one and choose the read mode rather than read/write.

Has there been any further discussion of this problem anywhere, because I just learned that I am having exactly the same problem as the original poster, under the same circumstances and environment. My first thought was that it might have been caused by my antivirus/spam application, Microsoft Security Essentials. It is possible that the application explicitly steps in when another application attempts to change drive properties.

This is my first time posting here, but I have not found any solution in the vicinity. I'm surprised that there isn't better information on this, as there must be others experiencing it.

Thanks for any advice, DGI
