True Image 2011 Windows 7
Hi
I have been using ATI 2010 on a Windows XP system without too many problems but when I switched to windows 7, I found that I could no longer install 2010, so I switched to 2011.
The problem is that the software will not respond. I click an option say, Browse Back ups" nothing happens and if I click several times it sometimes will respond. So I am getting nowhere with it.
Has anyone got any suggestions please?
Thanks

Thanks for replying so promptly. When I upgraded from ATI 2010 to 2011 plus, I downloaded the program and was given a set of numbers to activate the product. This consisted of two lots of 8 blocks of numbers or letters. When I tried to re-install AT1 2011, it would not allow me to insert so many digits.
After your recommendation I would like to try reinstalling again, but how can I overcome this problem?

Hopefully, when you purchased 2010 and 2011, you registered your serial numbers at the Acronis website after the purchase.
If registered, these serial number are available for retrieval from you web account. You can also download all your serial numbers to your desktop.
Once you have the serial numbers, then it best to copy the serial into the clipboard and then use the Control V option to paste the number from the clipboard directly into the installation process so no typing of the number is needed. The serial number is a 64 character number.
If the 2011 was an upgrade version rather than a complete new purchase, you will need to enter the 2010 serial as well as the 2011 serial.
See link 9 below for registration help.

Thanks yes I now have the serial numbers but the problem has taken a turn for the worst.
I uninstalled ATI through the Control Panel and used the Cleaner and checked the registry as advised. I then tried to install ATI 2010 in order to install the upgrade. Unfortunately I got the error message that the program 2010 could not load on Windows 7, so now I don’t have either of these programs installed. I can’t remember how I loaded ATI 2010 onto the machine in the first place.
Where do I go from here?

Daguerre,
run the cleanup again.
The reinstall of 2010 IS NOT NEEDED.
All you need to do is to instlal your most current release of True Image. It is a standalone install.
If the install is an upgrade, you will need to provide the serial number of the 2010 version which can be available from your Acronis personal web account.

Yes, I did try to load the upgrade first and just got the message that it required a full version to be loaded first and would not allow me to go any further.

What I believe the error message is saying in order to use an upgrade, there has to be an original full version purchase.
Was your prior version also an upgrade? Maybe you need the serial to an even prior version. Check your account for what all you have registered in the past.
The only time that I know that Acronis requires an installation is when the user is upgrading from a 3rd party program such as the Western Digital version or Seagate version or perhaps a personal version.

This is odd because my original version ATI 2010 was a bought disk with a valid serial number. I am trying to install from the saved download for the upgrade, perhaps I will try to install from the web site. Maybe this will make a difference.
Thanks for your help and patience

Good news; Instead of using my saved ATI 2011 upgrade file, I downloaded another from the Home page. It included an update so I have a working program again.
The bad news; it is still erratic. I click on the link, for example, to open the Home page and it may respond immediately or may take several clicks over several minutes. The other options behave in the same way. I have lost patience trying to open the Tools Menu. It does this even without any other programs running and the internet security turned off.
Is it fixable or should I abandon it?

We are 99% sure that there will be no further updates issued for 2011. There has been 6-8 updates since then all of which have been helpful to Windows 7. Acronis is offering some holiday sales. While 2014 is not perfect and may have some issues, the earlier versions of Win 7 do very well. You make the decision.
Why not try the trial version. Do be sure and perform an uptodte full backup before you try.
Acronis indicates you can upgrade the existing installation but if it were me, I would opt for using the cleanup utility first.
All new tasks should be created for any new version.
Sys restore points are not excluded unless you choose the exclusion feature and list them to be excluded.
The 2014 is much different than 2011 and you will have a learning curve.
I use it much like you do. I have online backup and sync-agent services stopped and disabled.
You will want to disable the "Scan for Backups" option is which automatically enabled by the installation.
