True Image 2013 Sync

Thread needs solution

Can anyone explain why an Online Account is required for syncing files between two computers on a LAN?

We all know this a bit weird, but Acronis True Image (ATI) creates a manifest of the sync, even for a local sync to a USB disk, and this manifest is stored on the server.
In theory, another computer could thus join the sync later.
Many users have provided the feedback that a local sync (that does not go through the cloud) should not require an online account etc., but Acronis believes that the user experience is better this way.

Acronis has changed the requirements for local syncs. A valid active Acronis True Image Online Backup subscription is now required even for local syncs.

Thanks for the information. You just saved me a bunch of money. I won't be upgrading until that gets fixed. There are plenty of local sync solutions that don't require a built-in security hole.
