Thread needs solution

Hi there I have been getting the message that there is an upgrade available in my windows bar also it appears to be still backing up as the icon shows the circling blue arrow and it all seems to be normal until I try to either get the update or just simply load up the main interface. As soon as the interface appears it freezes and the program says its not responding. I have no idea how to get it back. Thanks.

anyone actually here from the company? :P

Got this error code now if it helps : 0x00620006+0x00620004+0x00BE0081

Oh yes and I have another problem it was acronis 2013 which was upgraded to 2014 so I dont know how I repair that now!

Ok this suddenly got very serious I just updated my Bios and I could not get back into windows so eventually I managed to get into safemode thank god and I found the bootlog saw showing the first thing not to load was Acronis TIB so I decided to disable all Acronis startup applications and windows works again! Also I can now get into the main Acronis program so one of the start up programs was causing the problem.

This still leaves me with my problem of how do I sort this as I have a 2013 disc to reinstall. Do I need to wipe acronis reinstall 2013 then do the free upgrade I got before or is there a way of downloading 2014 completely and just do that with the new serial they gave me for the free upgrade. I feel this is the only way out now. Oh and I have trouble uninstalling acronis too I dont think it even started but its hard to tell right now as its all so messy!

So I dont appear to be able to get any support from acronis as my 2014 product expired already :O and I might need a wipe tool to get rid of this 2013 / 2014 installation (not sure if it was upgraded or fresh install)...

From what I read here I would say that you have experienced one of those odd occasions where your system is waiting for a user action, which you do not have access to by the way, to be completed before other remaining or prior executed tasks can continue or complete. Here is the scenario, for some reason a scheduled backup is running or attempting to run, suddenly, you receive an upgrade notification which halts the backup task awaiting user input before allowing things to continue. Now for whatever reason the action popup window where you could choose accept, decline, or whatever fails to appear. Result is that now nothing works because the awaited user response cannot be executed. You get a not responding message from the app because a timeout is reached for that task to commence.

There are probably a number of things you might do to correct the situation. You might try for example enabling the Acronis startup services that you have disabled one at a time until you find out which one is causing the current problem. My guess would be the scheduler service.

You might then try for example disabling the scheduled backup task that is now persistent in attempting to run and complete because of prior failure to complete. This scenario is default behavior for the app by the way. Below is an illustrated link to turn of a scheduled backup task:

https://forum.acronis.com/system/files/turn-off-scheduler.jpg

Once the scheduled task is disabled turn the scheduling service back on for startup and reboot. If all goes well and Windows starts wait for the upgrade notification to appear again. This may take some time or may happen in very short order. Once that notification appears then if an option to accept or decline the offer does not appear on your screen try to click on the notification itself which hopefully will force the option to appear. You might also try to just hover your mouse pointer over the notification and see if a popup window appears which you can click on to open. If that is successful and you make your choice, whatever that is, then you should be able to restart the scheduled backup again.

Be advised that if you choose the upgrade path in the scenario presented above your prior install of the app will be replaced by the upgraded app. You could possibly loose previously set scheduled tasks in the prior version after the upgrade completes. This is not to say that any previous backups that were created would be lost, just the tasks that created those backups. It would be best in my opinion to decline the upgrade offer first, then attempt to restart the present scheduled backup task and allow whatever backups that have been missed to complete. Once that has occurred then if you choose to upgrade that would be your choice.
