Thread needs solution

I am trying to backup to DVD. When I put a DVD in the drive it fails. I can put a CD in the drive and the backup starts to work -- but uses many CD's -- and worse, if for some reason it cannot write to the CD, i.e., operation failed, TI does not even ask for a new disk and you just burned a bunch of coasters! That is really POOR programming!

I read all the hype and Acronis said this would backup to DVD.
So, what am I doing wrong? or what??

Most folks here prefer to backup to external hard drives. Using CD/DVDS has always been problematic especially during a restore.

Maybe most folks can afford extra external hard drives, I cannot.
I also would like to store backup versions - just in case.
As far as restore... I have to get a good backup first.
Anyway, I just used a product from TeraByte, Image for DOS, which allowed me to boot from a CD, backup my system drive (8.45GB) and write it to one DL DVD. I will be testing the restore as soon as time permits - got to find an old drive to restore onto...
ok... found a drive and did the restore. Perfect!
I tested this software on a PCChips M598LMR motherboard, AMD6 2/500mhz cpu, 512MB memory.
The backup took 4 hours, restore 1 hour.
Acronis is going to have to work harder if they expect me to spend my money on upgrading their software. By the way... Migrate Easy was removed when I installed TI... Not happy about that because Migrate Easy worked... can't get a good clone from TI...

can't get a good clone from TI...

What are you trying to clone? What procedures are you using? If you wish to provide more details, maybe there is a solution.
