True Image Clone operation results in unbootable Source Drive Windows 10

Thread needs solution

I converted to Windows 10 and this morning used True Image 2014 (previously installed) to make a backup Clone. Afterwards the source drive would not boot. Here is what the blue screen tells me:

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
The boot configuration data for your PC is missing or contains errors
File: \Boot\BCD
Error: 0xc000000f
You'll need to use recovery tools...

I have an upgrade tool USB but not Installation media.

How can I repair my laptop?

Do I need to upgrade to True Image 16 for win10 support?

Thanks for any help, esp the repair part. (I did search first.)

You will need a Windows 10 Repair/Recovery disk. See http://www.thewindowsclub.com/your-pc-needs-to-be-repaired-error-on-win…. You will need to upgrade to TI 2016 for Windows 10 support.

Did you disconnect the source disk before trying to boot from the new clone? This is essential otherwise windows can become confused if both are connected on a reboot.

You can use your TI 2104 Rescue CD/USB to boot from and backup your data before doing anything else.

Hi ThomasJK, Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I upgraded to win 10 (silly me) so I don't have a " Windows 10 Repair/Recovery disk" and can't seem to figure out how to get one.

I doubt that I disconnected anything so this may be the problem. btw, my goal was not to boot from the clone but to have it as a backup. The Source disk was what should have been booted.

I have done this many times with TI 14 on win 7 and never had problems. My guess is that win 10 does something different with the boot.

Thanks.. Bob

Robert I missed the fact that you have a bootable USB drive.

Boot from that drive and when the screen comes up that shows the Langauge and Keyboard options select Next. On the next screen it will most likely say "Install Now". In the lower left hand corner of that screen select "Repair your Computer" then choose "Startup Repair" on the next screen.

Be sure you disconect the cloned drive until you have rebooted successfully from the source drive. The other option is to replace the source drive with the cloned drive and try to boot from it.
