True Image Home 2009, After restoring msg. "BOOTMGR IS MISSING"
Hello Forum,
I have the following problem.
After restoring a backup (whole disk) I get when starting the message "BOOTMGR IS MISSING".
Operating system is WIN 7
1 approach
Several times booted from the Win Inst CD and run repair.
Then I get another message. "Windows could not start because the NLS data is missing or damaged."
After booting from the Win 7 CD and on the command line
bootrec / FixMBR
bootrec / FixBoot
bootrec / RebuildBcd
executed. -> No improvement.
Then rebooted and
Bootsect / NT60 SYS / force
executed. -> No improvement.
2 approach
a Win 7 re-installed.
b. Restored from the backup only the C partition.
Unfortunately, no success.
I ask for your help.
Thanks in advance.

I had a similar experience. When I felt that my hard drive was infected, windows partition was deleted to get rid of any residual virus or malware. Then, I restored a recent tib with ATI bootable CD. Then, I got the same error as yours: missing Bootmgr.
I could not fix the problem.
What I did was:
a) Installed Windows 7 (not to repair), and then b) restored with a tib using ATI bootable disk. The problem was solved. I have done a few times like that in the past.
BTW, the repairing with Windows CD never repaired missing bootmgr problem.

Thank you.
Do you have restored the entire disk or only the c partition?

I only do C-partition because the size of the whole C-drive is 1 TB or 2 TB.
I do not see a need to make a backup of the whole disk.
The rest of C-drive space contains mainly data.
I find it more efficient to copy the data on a portable drive as a backup.

What you need to be able to restore depends a lot upon your objective.
If all you want to do is to restore a prior backup overtop your existing partition, then a backup of C only will normally suffice.
But if your goal of the backup is also to be able to create a replacement disk if your system disk goes bad, then a backup of C only will normally result in a non-bootable disk. You or may not be able to further recover via the use of the Windows Installation disk using the Startup Repair.
To prepare in advance, Use Windows Disk managment graphical view and look at how many partitions, their names (with or without drive letters) and the sequence listed. If this graphical view lists partitions that are non-lettered or System Recovery, then these partitions need tobe part of the backup and part of the restore--if to a new disk.

I want to restore an entire HDD.
The backup is also created by the entire HDD.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Josch,
What is the current status of your system?
Is the disk inside your computer the same original disk?
You indicate your backup is of the whole disk. How was it created? within Windows or the TI CD?
If within Windows, was the backup where you checked all partitons or was the backup where you checked only 1 checkmark and all partitions were included?

1. Yes. the backup should be transferred to the original disk.
2. The backup was created within Windows.
3. I'm not quite sure what you mean.
But it's all been checkmark checked. Unfortunately, I no longer knows the sequence.
I have pictures of the display attached.
