Trueimage 2013 Nonstop Backup STOPS !!!

Thread needs solution

I bought 2013 for two reasons. W8 support and the HOPE that NONSTOP backup truly would be nonstop. Nothing but trouble with in earlier versions. It would stop for no reason and restarting it was SLOW and useless. Just had to do manual backups frequently. NOT what I wanted.
Now 2913 has stopped once too.

Do I have to leave the True-image window ope or at least minimized after starting NONSTOP If so BAD. If not then why is it stopping at random. Well so far only once but only have had it a few days.

Is there a way to make this a truly reliable process? Does it get stopped when windows auto updates or what other reason?

Gilbert,

Are there any TI log entries for NSB?

In Windows Event Manager are there any errors pointing towards TI 2013 as the culprit?

I also suggest raising a support ticket on this issue.

I went to support link but it does not offer help for 2013 version. Not too nice.

Gilbert,

It does, it just isn't where you'd expect it to be in the list. It is listed as True Image 2013 not as Acronis True Image 2013, therefore it appears way down towards the bottom of the list.

I have already pointed this out to Acronis.

No offer for 2013 product support either and since 2012 is out of support for free for me I have no way other than this forum to try for help. Despite your not that 2013 appears at the bottom it does not. I was logged in. By the way,am getting the out of space error on 2012 on another machine now too. Something very strange and frustrating here. Never had this problem until I bought 2013.

Gilbert,

Obviously my eyesight is worse than I thought, I could have sworn that screen shot of mine shows True Image 2013 highlighted in the support selection box towards the bottom of the list. My mistake.

If you are now getting the problem on another machine that has 2012 installed and it has never had 2013 installed on it, it would seem that the problem might not be 2013, but possibly something else.

Have you run chkdsk /r on both of your machines?
Have you run a deepscan of your machine with your antivirus sftware?

Windows 8 is not supported by Acronis for TIH 2012, though apart from mounting I was able to run 2012 on W8 Developer and Customer Preview builds.
I am unsure whether Acronis will support Windows 8 problems with 2013 until the official release of W8 in October.

How do you have your disks setup in W8, are you using the new storage places?

Where have you selected the NSB files to be imaged to?

In Windows Device Manager is the Acronis entry shown as working properly?

Is your firewall and AV software Windows 8 ready? If you are usig the Microsoft Defender, try exempting NSB from being checked.

Have you tried a repair install of 2013?

Does making a standard image or file backup work?

I am not running W8 yet. All this is W7 and I had no problems until This install of 2013 on one machine and upgrade of 2011 to 2012 on the other. Let us ignore the machine with 2012 for now. chkdsk has been run and I tried backing up to 2 almost new 2 tB drives.,I do not knw what to try now. I see working properly.
The crazy thing is that the backup completes successfully if I choose to ignore the space warning.

I do have Plus Pack also installed.

You might want to try launching services.msc, selecting Acronis Nonstop Backup Service, right click and select properties, and then the Recovery tab. Make sure all failures are set to Restart the Service (see the attached screenshot). While this will not solve the root cause of the problem (I've been having NSB stopping problems for 5 months), but it might let you limp along until Acronis finds a fix. I've had similar problems in TIH2012 and now TIH2013.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your posts and your help.

Gilbert, were you able to contact our Support team? I checked your account and you can select True Image 2013 by Acronis from the drop-down menu in the support wizard. Please let me know if you need additional assistance.

Tom please let me know if you have additional questions about your support cases.

 Hello all,

Thank you for your reports.

Gilbert,

Could you please wait for the moment when the issue is reproduced and obtain Acronis system report from the Help section?

Please send me the file via Private Message.

Thank you.

Ok - Add me to the list of stopping nonstop backups. To add insult to injury I am still waiting after half an hour for the pop-up chat window to pop-up

Ok - got a window - just no rep!

 Hello Ian,

Could you please provide us with Acronis system report?

Thank you.

Hello Ian,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the Forum.

I checked the case and I can see that you were able to contact us via chat after all. Could you please let me know what browser you were using and the approximate time of your attempt.

Could you also get back to us with a system report from your machine so that we can take a look at this issue in more detail.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I was using Firefox between about 6:30 and 8:30pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (GMT +10)

where would you like me to put the system reports? I have both AcronisInfo.zip and AcronisSystemReport.zip (I assume you want the latter but I'd thought I'd check)

Also I have a screen capture of the chat session (the save button doesn't work (yes really!)) which you might like to look at as an example of how not to provide a valuable on-line service.

Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Ian,

I will contact you via a private message with a custom ftp link.

Thank you.
