Try and decide killed computer

Thread needs solution

I have used try and decide many times but this was the first time I ever applied the changes with a reboot (the supposedly faster way). "It gets to Status of commit: 100%" and stays there. Left it on over night and was still at 100%. Shutdown computer and it rebooted to exactly the same spot. I could restore from a backup to the previous day but would loose the whole days work. I created a system restore point right before I started try and decide and installed a printer driver. All was good and I chose to apply changes. I am rummong Win 7 Ultimate 64bit and build 6597. If I could get back into windows I could use system restore but I can't get past the acronis loader. Any help would be appreciated.

Edward,

It is hard to know what state is your system now if T&D didn't complete properly. As a user, I have had various issues with T&D and I simply don't use it any longer.
Also, don't put too much faith in Windows System Restore, it failed me several times with drivers, codecs, etc.
At this point, I would only trust an image restore.

With Win 7, if your system has a hidden "system reserved" and a "system" partition, don't put too much faith in Non Stop Backup and Try and Decide. If you use them, make sure you will have a full *disk* backup you are comfortable going back to if they fail.

What I do now is that I do a full disk image anytime I install something I might want to get rid of (a la T&D)

What I did was to restore the MBR from the previous day's backup. Windows booted normally. I started try and decide copied a file and then exited try and decide discarding changes (thought this might clean up any leftover bits and pieces of the previous failure). After rebooting everything appears to be working properly. If I do find any issues I will do a full restore. Yes my install does have a small system partition.
