Try&Decide failed/lost my data after unexpected shutdown... Help!?!
When I turned on my computer yesterday it booted normally, but after logging in I realized several items/settings were changed or missing in my normal desktop setup and upon investigation I realized Try&Decide was not running as it had been for many days. All my recent changes, updates, email, etc. are missing! I immediately searched for my data, but no luck; then searched Help and Support for solutions or clues to finding missing data, but found nothing to help resolve it. I am not sure what happened, but Windows Event logs indicate an 'unexpected shutdown' sometime prior to starting my PC yesterday. I recall shutting down my PC normally the night before, though did not watch the entire process. (fyi - The PC, network, etc. were shut down accidentally 4 days earlier when I hit a power supply switch while reconfiguring network hardware, but the PC had been restarted a few and ran T&D normally until yesterday.)
I was running Try&Decide in ATIH2012 (OS - Windows7 Ultimate 64bit) for the past 3 weeks because, in addition to my normal day-to-day PC/internet use, I have been trying to troubleshoot & fix several problems related to my email, MS Outlook and Office 365 Exchange Services (caused by MS Office 365 Exchange Server automatically resetting my password after 90 days - without notice or warning - but that's another story...). That process has required many changes to Windows settings and my user profile, creating new profiles, etc. and I planned to save the T&D changes to C: as soon as it was resolved, but unfortunately the Office 365 user support is available only in user forums and unsuccessful so far.
Luckily I have multiple drives and partitions and most of my important documents are saved to a drive other than my C: System drive. But of course Windows saves much user data, email, updates, activity, etc. to C: by default and it appears that all of that is lost - which is very troublesome because I do not know all the data that Windows was saving to C:.
While Try&Decide was running of course it reminded me daily, and I was monitoring the used/available drive space closely - which indicated that my 400GB C: partition available space was 129GB and T&D had used used 23GB. Since I was scrambling to complete a critical project this week, I was planning to accept the changes at the end of the day/week yesterday since I read that the process of saving the changes would take a 'long time', maybe many hours (?), and couldn't risk my PC being unavailable.
Further complicating my situation is that my ATIH2012 incremental backup for C: apparently stopped a couple of weeks ago because it has not been deleting my old TIH image files as I have scheduled so my NAS drives are too full. I just got notice of that a few days ago, but hadn't had time to remove them manually... (Yes, I know that's my own fault for not freeing up the disk space right away, but it's time consuming to figure out which image files are expendable.) I wish ATIH2012 would delete older image files as I've set it to do. It often seems to ignore my backup settings changes... but that's a problem for another day.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible for me to locate and access or recover the T&D files/image for my C: drive? Is there any solution or procedure you can direct me to that will allow me to access any or all of the T&D C: drive data that is missing?
Any capable assistance or directions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ken
