You are attempting to do a clone from within Windows on a laptop. You should be doing this with the machine booting from the recovery media with target drive mounted in the machine and source attached secondarily.

Ok, I did all that, but when I boot from the recovery media it only gives me the options to restore the system partition, dont see any way to launch any external programs like ATI??

Well, since no answer was forthcoming, I tried out the free version of Macrium Reflect at the suggestion of a friend.

Worked like a charm, didn't have to do anything like your previous suggestion of swapping out drives or such, and it only took about 1.5hrs.

Best part? It's FREE.

Sorry Acronis, but I just feel like I wasted 50$ on TrueImage. Any chance of getting my money back?

Hello John,

thank you for your postings.

When you start cloning of a system partition in Windows the machine gets re-booted in Acronis Linux-based environment. It looks like on your particular hardware Acronis Linux loader is not able to start. Without an investigation I won't be able to name the reason of the failure. If you are ready for investigation, please contact our support team.

In any case you always have a workaround - Acronis WinPE based bootable media.

And for information on our refund policy please refer to the following article.

Thank you.
