Unable to backup to mapped network drive/TIH2013
Hi, I have True Image Home 2013 installed in my Windows 8x64 laptop. The laptop joined my homegroup consisting of another Windows 7x64 PC. The Homegroup is correctly configured and working fine, password access is disabled and full read/write permissions are granted in the backup folder (a folder in the PC). I can access the PC folder from the laptop using either Network or the mapped drive in My Computer and perform read and write operations.
When I'm ready to backup my laptop to the PC mapped drive, Acronis reports that it can't access the network drive.
How can I fix this? Thanks

Hi tuttle, what I'm trying to do is set a shared folder in my PC as the destination for the laptop's backup. The shared folder is in my PC, I don't have a NAS., and its address is:
\\192.168.0.98\g\backups OR \\mypc\g\backups
where am I supposed to type this address? Because when I click "browse" from within acronis there's no location field, it only allows you to select a folder. Thanks.

click "Browse", type in the "File name" field

Thanks, when I get back home I'll try it and update this post.
As a side question: if I'm prompted to enter a Username and Password for accessing the shared folder, I know what the Homegroup password is, but how do I find the Username? Is it the same as the c:\users\ folder name in Windows 7? Thanks

I tried your suggestion, i.e., typing the full network address in the "File name" field, when I give it OK, then choose "Backup Now", TIH2013 will proceed with the message "Time Left: Calculating...", nothing seems to happen in the background as CPU activity is close to 0%, and after a while this message pops up:
"Confirmation: Access to the specified file is denied: \\?\UNC\mypc\g\laptop_full_b1_s1_v1.tib. To specify another location click browse". I try again and again and same symptom. I even tried uninstalling TIH2013 and installing trial version of TIH2014 and exactly the same issue. Anything else I could try? Thanks

It sounds as though the remote location isn't allowing you to write to it. This seems to be a Windows permissions or network rights issue.

Hi tuttle, no it's not, as I said before the shared network location has full read and write permissions and I tested it with Windows Explorer, I was able to read and write to the folder from the laptop.

Try it using the same path that you entered in True Image.

Hi Tuttle, yes, when I enter "\\192.168.0.98\g\" or "\\mypc\g\" in the Windows Explorer address field, Windows Explorer will directly enter the desired location without any problem, which is the same as if I click directly on the mapped network drive icon "Z:\g\" .Once I enter, as I said, I am able to read or write to it. So I don't have any issues with my laptop's OS communicating with the network shared folder in my PC. The issue only arises when Acronis TIH2013 or TIH2014 tries to backup to that folder.

UPDATE: I have no idea why, but I left the homegroup and joined again from the laptop, and now it works! I finally was able to backup my laptop to the PC's shared network folder
Thanks
