Unable to install - error

Thread needs solution

Hello, hope someone is able to help...

Purchased TI 2013 today - first time user

However, when I go to install, I get the error

'Cannot remove the following components, because they were installed for the current user only: Acronis True Image Home 2012 (Version 15.0.5545). Please uninstall them manually and try again'
(Screenshot Attached)

Now, as I've said, I'm a first time user, and so have never had TI 2012 installed - and I'm the only user of the laptop, so no one else would have done.

I've checked Installed Programs anyway, and there's no mention of it.
I also purchased Disk Director - which installed fine - but got this message both before, and after, installing DD.

Running Windows 7 Pro, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM
Drive has full disk encyption (BitLocker) if that could be anything to do with it?

Thanks!

Remove DD11, run the DD11 cleanup utility found here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/14876, Restart the system, delete your user profile temp files (press start then type %temp% and hit enter, delete everthing you can in this folder), run the 2013 cleanup utility here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876, try the 2013 install again.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried the above steps (several times), but still facing the same issue unfortunately.

Try extracting the MSI installer file and install from that making sure you do it under 'run as admin'.

Run the True Image installer and at the install splash screen right click th einstall option and select 'extract', take not of where the installer is extracted to, normally the folder that the Acronis installer is working from.

Close the Acronis installer and then right click the MSI installer file and select 'run as admin' , see if this then installs for you.

Hello Colin, that appears to have done the trick! (Although, first time round, it installed, but the program wouldn't run - be ran a repair installation, and seems to be working fine now)

thank you for your time & help (and to James of course!)
