Unable to open previous 2012 TIB's - Can't browse backups

Thread needs solution

I know things have changed and I don't follow the changes. However, I have external drives that I have created images of previous computers that I like to access and browse for files that I need.

I'm using Windows 7 32bit, when I simply use windows explorer and browse my external drives I have several backups (.TIB) with related .xml files located there.

I used to just double click these TIB's and browse them, it used to show me the drive letters in the backup, then I would browse deeper until I found what files I needed... Now when I double click these backup's, or any backups, Windows Explorer does the Blue Bar across the top like's it's reading the file, however nothing appears in the Explorer window after it completes reading the file?
The only option I found in 2012 to get to my backup information is to restore the entire TIB (Image) to some directory ...

What am I doing wrong?

thanks for looking... have a great day.

You should be able to right click the tib and select mount, whcih will cause ati to open and present the tib image as a virtual disk. This won't work with file backups only with disk/partition backups.

Scott, if I understand your last comment "This won't work with file backups only with disk/partition backups" .. this english makes no sense...

My backups are Disk partition backups, will this work.. Yes or No..

When I choose the "Mount" as you suggested, I'm presented withe the Drive Letter option,

Ok, this time it worked... I have to choose the Option, to " MOUNT THE PARTITIONS IN THE READ-WRITE MODE" .. otherwise I get an error...

I liked it before when all I had to do is double click the TIB and it Mounted on the fly through Windows Explorer...

Ok, this works... thanks for the helpl....

I haven't tried this recently at home to see what happens -- I spend enough time just getting ati2012 to reliably make backups ;) .But seriously, what you used to do was use (an ATI filter invisible in the background to allow) Explorer to browse the tib. It was slighlty easier than mounting. I thought this was still avaialble in ATi2012,but as I said, I haven't tried it lately.

So, given that it's supposed to work but doesn't, well, with ati2012, I'm an avid fan of uninstalling, cleaning, then reinstalling. When this is an effective fix for a prob, it's almost always faster than searching for a solution and trying to implement one.

ok merci, monter le .tib fonctionne. Mais ce n'est pas pratique du tout.
Pas de meilleure solution ?

Unistall using the windows contorl panel, clean with the ati2012 cleaner

then install, preferrably using msconfig to ensure no conflicts bother the install:

I have the same problem with the backup files not wanting to open properly (no listing of contents) by double clicking on them. I have found if I open TIH2012 and minimize it, and then try to open them they work as before. This method is cumbersome, but gets the job done. Also mounting them works, but I do not always want to mount the image file just to go get a file from an older backup.

James,
I would first suggest that you use the repair feature.
Restart the TI install file from your downloads.
Start the install and you will be given a window where the repair will be a choice.
Do the repair. This will install TI overtop your existing installation.
Is this XP or Win 7?

Thanks for your feedback. It is a Windows 7 x86 system. I find the workaround is better for me than trying any repairs as I have updated the scheduler, SnapAPI and patched SnapAPI and most of the program features are working fine for me. I have been running ATIH 2012 since it was a beta, and have it updated to the latest release. I was part of the beta testers and had many problems with the early builds. I offered this workaround as it seems to do what the OP wanted to do without too much more work for him.
