Unable to restore image of Windows 7 to laptop

Thread needs solution

I have just got the upgrade for Acronis True Image Home 2010 and am trying to clone a copy of Windows 7 for my laptop.
I can make the image OK, but when trying to restore it , I can only get as far as choosing the destination drive and the program just hangs. I cant get any response from clicking any options , so am forced to manually shut down my laptop.

I would be grateful for any assistance with this problem.

Thank you

Where is the Image stored and is the destination drive the original drive in the laptop? Are you booting True Image from the Rescue cd?

Thanks,
the image is stored on an external USB drive. I am booting from the resue CD.

I made another rescue CD and it works fine but my current problem is that the image I have transferred to my laptop will not boot and there is a message saying BOOTMGR Missing.
In the past, I have imaged my desk top and restored the image to my laptop with no problems. I just cant seem to restore the image made from my desk top PC. I would be grateful for any assistance.
