Unable to update product due to previous non-existent installs.
It keeps telling me to update, yet when I try, it gives me errors, telling me to uninstall other installs of True Image 2012, which aren't installed. Now what do I do?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you use the clean up utility, follow all instructions carefully. In particular, do not let the utility reboot your computer before you complete all instructions of the download web page.
Clear your temp directories.
If this doesn't solve it, look through the attached PDF to remove remnants.

James and Pat -- thank you very much!!
1. Is there any way I can save my existing configuration -- I have 4 regularly scheduled backups that I'd like to avoid recreating, plus all the history (if that's the correct way to term it).
2. Will it clear what I assume are erroneous serial numbers from the trial or previous versions? Seems I should be able to delete those from the registry and avoid uninstalling.

1. You can export your backup settings before you do anything (see tools). Move your existing backup TIB files to another directory on the same disk they are right now (to avoid a long file copy).
2. I am not sure. I think you would be better off removing all references to Acronis 2012 in the registry, first with the clean up utility, then with a tool like Revo Uninstaller (forced uninstall, use Acronis as the search term), and finally following the PDF file attached above.
As always, do a backup of the system before you edit the registry.

Now I'm getting a bit frustrated. I followed the Uninstall file, made some errors, crashed the computer. My fault. Thanks to the ISO file, I was able to recover from the crash (it was looping). Today I followed the PDF Uninstall meticulously. Rebooted without any problem, but when I went to install (after spending much time locating both the new and old SN), it crashed saying that a previous version of 2012 couldn't be removed.
NOW WHAT? Attached error logs, system info file, capture of error. Help, please! I am now without any backup.

Please run the Acronis 2012 cleanup utility to remove the traces of 2012 that are still left on your system. http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545
Then try to install again.

I have run the cleanup utility AND followed the Uninstall PDF file. Still it didn't work. Finally, in frustration, I did a search of Local Machine and found numerous references to Acronis that I then removed. FINALLY, that did it. I probably removed many unnecessary items, but I was finally able to install the program. What is amazing to me is that Acronis is unable to write a program to remove what I did manually. I wasted 3 days working on this. In the future, I'm better off not updating -- it was working fine.

Warbler,
Anytime upgrading to a new build or a new version, be safe and do a backup before any changes. Then if you do not like the changes, simply restore your partition C and all again be the same as it was at time of backup.
Another good product to help remove failed installs or uninstalls is Revo Uninstaller. There is the free version and also the paid version. Some users have found using registry cleaners such as Wise Registry cleaner to be of assistance. Be sure and have current backups anytime you use registry cleaners or cleanup tools.
