Unable to view archives or recover from validated archives if located
Hi,
I have been banging my head against a non-stop series of errors with my ATI 2013 backups and have run out of ideas on how to fix them.
Sequence of events thus far:
1. I have Windows 8 installed on an SSD, from which I back up the OS & Reserved Partition as a single archive with ATI 2013 to a secondary Linux PC via network shares.
2. My SSD failed about two weeks back, so I RMA'ed the old drive and collected a replacement drive of the same capacity.
3. Downloaded the ATI 2013 Recovery CD Image and booted up with the CD listed first in boot priority. When the UI appears, no archives are listed for recovery. Clicking on the Browse button results in the drive activity indicator lighting up for a few seconds, but then the activity stops and the app appears to "hang" (No UI appears, cannot go back to Home page).
4. I power-off the PC and boot using a Linux Live CD. I copy the Backup archives from the network onto a local hard drive of the PC I am trying to recover.
5. Reboot with the Recovery CD, check for available backups and nothing appears. Try Browsing for backups and same behaviour - drive activity lights up, then stops and the app "hangs".
6. Reinstall Windows 8 from scratch, then install ATI 2013 and browse for backups from Windows. The archive now appears within ATI2013. I also create a new Recovery CD from the ATI2013 installation
7. Reboot using the new Recovery CD, and this time I get a list of Recovery images. I try to recover the C partition & MBR using the latest backup. I am prompted that this will wipe out the existing OS on my SSD, which I accept. The recovery fails with multiple errors about being unable to read from sectors on Disk 1(the SSD). This is highly unlikely as this is a brand new disk. Thinking the archives are corrupted, I validate the archives and the validation passes without errors.
8. I try recovery with the last full backup for only the OS partition, but this fails as well.
Can someone please help me figure out how to get ATI2013 to actually restore the backup?
