Update and forced backup - Version 11Windows 7

Sometimes I wonder what some programmers are smoking. Today I opened Acronic and received a notification there was an update to the software. I started the backup when the notification appeared. I did the download and the software was installed.

After the installation, I was prompted with yes to reboot to update the software or no. Of course I said yes. Instead of rebooting, I got a message that the computer was running a process. After 15 minutes, it became apparent to me that it was running the backup ! What idiot would program a backup during a shutdown? I would have waited 4 hours for the backup to be complete before I could use my computer.

So I risked a hard reboot which caused a minor problem with my raid system and potential problems with my external backup with fragments created. So far I am very unimpressed with certain aspects of this program. I wish I had more choices as I would not be sticking with this if I knew of better.
