Update policy
I am also one of many who got caught by the deceptive practice of offering a reduced price TI 2010 to be followed very shortly by the update to 2011 with the total price exceeding if one had waited and bought the new product.
My history:
Bought Acronis True Image Home 2010 AND the Plus Pack on the
19th August 2010
Received the email "Acronis True Image Home 2011 just released. Upgrade now" on the
25th August 2010 !
Gave up in disgust -never installed, deferred the whole issue, intended to look for alternatives.
Now have received emails offering even dearer upgrade "until the 31st May"
Had another look and got into the forums the -
13773: Main Upgrade policy dicussion topic - which apparently is now locked and not easily reached and found this posting:

Jim, lets agree to disagree. Otherwise, reread my posts it should clear things up, I hope. I really want this to be clear for everyone. If you purchased ATIH 2010 at a discounted price within 30 days of the release of 2011, let us know if you would like to upgrade. We will take care of you because we believe it is the right thing to do.

Apparently Acronis rectified this matter to people who complained then, on that now closed forum. I would like to know what Acronis will do for me.

Thank you Yana,
I very much appreciate that you will help with this and also for your very prompt answer.
Yes I would like to upgrade to the 2011 version of TI Home and its Plus Pack (if that also has changed from 2010). As I did not install the 2010 versions I feel I should start and learn the new versions.
Regarding this, I do still have the installation files and the keys for these versions. Should I install these first before running the update files ? Also I expect I will have to register the software - should I do the old versions first ?
Again, thank you for your help,
George

Dear George,
Please accept my apologies for the delay with the response. Thank you for your questions, I will be glad to address them.
All you need to install Acronis True Image Home 2011 is its installation file, upgrade serial key and the serial key of the previous version (Acronis True Image Home 2010). Don't worry about the registration either, I will take care of it, and have the licenses registered. It's not an obligatory, but it's more convenient to have the licenses registered: you will have the access to the updates, and support.
You might also want to check Acronis True Image Home 2011 User's Guide and WebHelp: it contains all the information regarding product functionality, so you may find it useful. Feel free to check this documentation, it's located here.
I will send you the key and link to the installation file via PM. Should you have any questions or need any guidance - let us know, we will be glad to help.
Thank you!
