Upgrade from 2013 fails

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Upgrade gets most of the way through -- up to registering components (I believe) and then backs out. I saved the .msi file but I don't want to post something like that on a public forum.

I attached a screen shot with the error code.

Please advise.
Thanks
Randy

I have not upgraded to 2014, but if it were me, I would uninstall my current ATI, run the Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility, reboot and then install the new version. It may not be totally necessary in most cases, but it will avoid problems on many systems. In such a process, backup tasks would have to be recreated. Your existing backup images could remain as is, as they will be restorable using ATI 2014.

Thanks Tuttle. I restarted the system and re-ran the install procedure. It completed OK so this is resolved. In my case it was not necessary to uninstall ATI, etc.

I have the same issue trying to upgrade to ACRONIS 2014 from 2013 on a windows 8 machine. Their instructions are ambiguis, They say the previous Acronis serial must be used and then in bold give you a new key in the receipt and say this must be used. Their support for the product is non existent, a thoroughly hopeless company to deal with.

Ian,

If you are upgrading over the top of 2013, you will only need to have the upgrade serial number to hand. If, though, you have uninstalled 2013 then you will need to have the serial number for 2013 and for 2014 available. The 2014 serial number is entered first and then the 2013 serial number.

Thanks Colin for replying. I needed to turn off Anti virus and firewall and then it installed fine.

Brilliant, an easy to solve problem! :)
