upgrade from windows XP to windows 7
I have TI 11 build 8,101, Windows 7 upgrade advisor says TI may need to be upgraded. Will TI 11 work with windows 7?

I have TI 2009 build 12.0.09809.
I am considering upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7. I have an up to date *tbi consolidated backup of my C drive on an external disc. Can I use this to restore all my applications after installation of Windows 7 to the C drive? Can I do so if I install TI 2010?

Clifford:
No, and no. If you restore your up-to-date .tib file then you will restore Windows XP to the machine. For any program that needs to create registry entries (which includes most programs, although there are a few that don't) then it's not as simple as extracting the application's folder from your old image and dropping into the program files folder on your new Windows 7 installation. Most programs need to be installed in order to create needed registry entries, to register DLLs, etc.
You really need to install Windows 7 clean and then reinstall all of your applications. You will not regret taking the time to do this right. I've done six Windows 7 clean installs this year (while beta testing, etc) and it isn't so bad, especially if you keep good notes.

There have been users here who report that they have Ti11 working with Win7. Try searching the forum for those messages to see if they had to jump through any hoops.

Hello
I have a HP Pavilion ZD7000 CTO Notebook PC with XP Pro-SP3 on it. I wanted to install windows 7. I thought if I buy Acronis True Image Home 2010 I can back up my current system and try installing Windows 7 and if I fail I thought I could put back my original system. So I bought Acronis True Image Home 2010 with Dis Director Suite 10 online. While going through the user manual I see the following topics.
Creating BartPE disc with Acronis True Image Home
Creating WinPE-based rescue media
Adding the Acronis Plug-in to WinPE 1.x
Adding the Acronis Plug-in to WinPE 2.x or 3.0
Adding Acronis Plug-in to WinPE 2.x or 3.0 ISO
Adding Acronis Plug-in to WinPE 2.x or 3.0 WIM
My question is
1. are these mandatory to back up my system which has a total of 100 Gig to back up?
2. If not what is the simple method? Will I have any recovery problem if I do not install these plugins?
3. Do I need Plus also to be installed?
4. Since I find these very confusing can I request to send me a boxed version now?
5. If that is possible what is the contact? ( Because I called the company and they said they only support corporate customers)
Appreciate your help.

How do you get to load a TI upgrade on to a clean win 7 install if you can't get the earlier version to load?

Hello all,
Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
Let me help you and answer your questions.
Keshav, you don't need BartPE or WinPE discs to back up and restore your system.
1. You back it up within Windows or using a bootable CD (check Chapter 15 of the User's Guide on how to create it) and then even if your system won't boot, you'll be able to restore it with that bootable CD.
2. You do not need to purchase a Plus Pack since it is needed only if you're going to restore the backup archive to a dissimilar hardware (different PC/laptop).
3. You can contact our Live Chat support using this link or submit a e-mail request here.
Jeff, there's no need to have the older version installed on your computer when you installing the upgrade version. All you need is your old serial number. You will be prompted to enter it during the installation of the upgrade.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you.
