Upgrading 2009 to 2010

Thread needs solution

In spite of the poor results for many, I have decided to try the trial version of 2010. 2009 works great, but upgrading is reasonably cheap, and one get's the Plus Pack with it.

When installing the trial, is it advisable to remove completely 2009 from my system (creating an image of my system and apps drive beforehand, of course), or can one merely install over 2009? If removal is expedient, is what is the recommended method? Does the same advice apply should I decide to buy the upgrade?

I am running Win7 Ult 64.

Thanks for any help.

You probably should uninstall first. See http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/kb/articles/958/. Make sure you keep your 2009 serial number handy if you do decide to upgrade to 2010. Even if you buy an upgrade its still a full installer. It will ask for your 2009 serial number though as well as your 2010 serial.

Thanks for the link, Thomas. As for serials, I do and will keep them (actually still have v7-2009)

Thanks again.

Hello all,

Thank you for your messages.

thomasjk, I really appreciate your assistance!

MH,

I am not sure if you were able to install Acronis True Image 2009 Home onto your Windows 7 operating system, the program is not officially compatible with Windows 7, unless you used a workaround. Just in case, I can also recommend to check our Acronis True Image 2010 clean up utility. It automatically removes all traces of Acronis True Image Home software from your system. You can check additional information here.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

Hi Anton,
Thanks for your post. Actually, I've been running 2009 successfuly on Win7u64 since RTM. I am about to try the 2010 trial and just asked if uninstalling 2009 was expedient, to which Thomas replied resoundingly: Yes!

Thanks!
