Upgrading to 3TB Hard disk

I have failed dismally to upgrade to a new 3TB hard disk. I have used the tools on the cd. The situation now is the no matter what I do the disk only shows less that 1GB. I have obviously done something wrong and need to get it back to 3GB. I now realise that my system will only support up to 2GB and that's not really a problem and I can use the Extended capacity manager to access the remaining 1GB.

Any help would be most welcome.
