Upload Backup to NAS on a wireless home network (ATT Uverse using 10/100/1000 Modem/Router)

Thread needs solution

I'm just wondering how fast I should expect Acronis True Image Home 2011 to upload data (a Partition Backup) to my MyBookLive 1 Terabyte NAS drive which is connected by ethernet cable directly to my ATT Uverse Modem/Router which is rated 10/100/1000.
My computer is a Lenovo Y560 with the i7 chip and 4 gig DDR3 running Windows 7 64.
My internet plan is the ATT MaxPlus Plan which advertises 1.5MB per second uploads and 18 MB per sec download speed.
What should the upload speed be in bytes per second? I'm getting around 450 kb/sec.
Is that normal?

Mario,

The performance you see is very low. You should be able to max out your ethernet connection, whether it is 100mb/s or 1000 mb/s.

Do the following test:
- make a ~1GB backup on your local disk, and copy the archive TIB file from your computer to your NAS, measure the time it takes to complete,
- as you do this, open the Windows task manager, click on the networking tab and check your network utilization. You should be anywhere between 80% and 100%. If not, you have a network configuration issue.
- then using ATI validate the backup on your NAS, and verify you still get a very high network utilization. If you don't you will need to try some tweaks like disabling IPv4 checksum offload, enabling/disabling auto-negotiation (typically enabling it is better). YOu need to maximize your network utilization.
- then do the backup from ATI to your NAS, measure the time and compare with your file copy. That should be close to the file copy time.
