Upload speed?

Thread needs solution

Just a general question as I learn how this software works......

During upload, I get 2.9 max on a 20 up connection.
The upload will drop to zero then go back up to 2.9 then repeat this over and over.

It would be nice to get a faster upload speed but barring that, Is there anything can be done to maintain a max connection speed without the drop off's or is that something we have to just live with and accept?

Is this cycle of up and down because of the ISP or is it a design of TI?

Thanks.

In general a backup to Acronis Cloud will use your available network connection to it's fullest capability so ISP restrictions if any exist, LAN/WAN issues if any exist, and other network traffic both locally and on a wide area basis can impact performance. There are a couple of things you can check to see if your application is set correctly. I am providing links to help files on these specifics. Have a look at these settings and check to see that they are set to an optimum level for your needs.

Thanks for the reply.

One link you posted mentions compression, that doesn't apply to cloud as the user has no control over it.

Priority set to High....got that, and data center set to closest.

Any other ideas for the constant up and down transfer speed?

I would think that this could be related to the number of hops the data makes to the cloud server. When this occurs does the max 2.9 level happen very quickly or does it take some time to reach that level, stay there for awhile and then stop? If you ping test the cloud server how much delay do you see? Do you see any packet loss in multiple ping tests? Do multiple ping tests result in a wide range of delay times?

Speed will be 2.9 for a couple seconds, then drop off fast to near 0 then slowly climb to 2.3, 2.9, back down to 2.1, then drop to 0.
It does this repeatedly like a wave.

One hop or maybe 2 timed out.
What's your take on that?

Something is not right.
This morning, and has happened a few times before, my transfer speed to cloud was not going over 700K. After stopping and starting the backup, transfer is back to 2.8-2.9 peak.
Am I the only one having trouble like this?

Your numbers look to high to me. I would give my ISP a call about that. You might have some DNS problems that need fixing.

I'll call but first I'll try a windows DNS flush on this machine. That has worked wonders for browser problems in the past. May be completely unrelated but I don't know what else I can try.
I talked to Time Warner support yesterday and all they do is direct me go speedtest.net and their own speedtest which show 300 down/20 up and evidently that is what they hold as the gospel tell all lol.

An update on this because I hate when others never update in forums.....

I have done a lot of research into understanding upload and download speeds and how they are calculated.
I had a big misunderstanding.
When I was seeing 2.9 max upload, that was Mega bytes, which is very different than mega bits.
Mega bits is how speedtest.net expresses your speed.
Bytes and bits are confusing but I learned that I needed to multiply 2.9 X 8 which gives me 23.2 up, my net service is 20 up so I'm getting what I should be.

This still doesn't explain why Acronis backup will peak at 2.9 then drop to 0 and cycle over and over like it does.

I opened a ticket with support and will update as I can.

Thanks for the update, yes, keep us posted.
