Use TI 2009 boot CD to restore a Seagate DiscWizard backup?

Thread needs solution

Can a TI 2009 Restore/Boot CD be used to restore a backup made by Seagate DiscWizard v11 build 8142?
The DiscWizard Restore CD won't recognize the external Seagate FreeAgent USB drive on boot up, and as such, won't allow a restore.

No harm in trying. Does the 2009 CD get as far as letting you select the Backup without coughing up an error? Do you have a spare hard drive to use?

Yes, the TI 2009 boot CD sees the DiscWizard backup on the external drive.
(Is there some kind of build #/version backwards-compatability for Acronis TI restore?)
It was a backup of a Vista64 laptop.

The "Validate Archive" option of the TI 2009 boot CD validates the archive on the usb drive fine when booted from a Win XP machine.
It claims the archive is corrupted (bad sectors or media) when booted from the Vista64 laptop.
Hmmm.....

Planning on upgrading to Windows 7 soon.
I don't have a spare hard drive for the laptop.
Not planning on restoring Vista64 if Windows 7 installs & runs fine.

Well, since the TI boot CD validates the backup on the external drive just fine on your XP machine yet not on the laptop, I suspect that either the laptop's BIOS may need to be updated to fix any USB issues or that the laptop uses USB chipsets with known bugs.
