User name or password for remote resource incorrect

Thread needs solution

Hi. Would appreciate your help in debugging an error that we get every time we try a backup job (though it worked the very first time).

This is Acronis True Image 11 Home (English), V. 11.0 8,101, running under Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit. We have three identical computers, all new, and only one is having this problem.

Backups go to Drive Z:, a network drive which is accessed with a user name and password. The two other computers "remember" the user name and password for the Z: drive. On this computer, we sometimes have to remind it; then we check "remember this password."

THE PROBLEM IS, we get an immediate error on this backup, whether it runs as scheduled or we do a one-time run. Here's what it says:

3. Error 1 1,015(0x103P7) User name or password for the remote resource Z:\Backups\CADStation-data-Monday.tlb is incorrect. Please check user name and password and type it again.

It sounds like Acronis is saying that this computer can't access Drive Z:. But right before I ran the last backup, I accessed Drive Z: without having to furnish a user name and password.

The only other thing I can tell you offhand is that this computer does not require a password to log in; nor do the other two computers.

So . . . is this enough info to help you debug the errors, which occur with all FIVE scheduled backups on this this computer, or do you need more?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Brandt,

Thank you for your post, I will be glad to address it.

First of all, please note that Acronis True Image Home 11.0 doesn't support Windows 7 OS, and we cannot guarantee the safety of your system. This product is also very outdated, it's no longer updated, supported or developed anymore. As a workaround I would suggest you to install the trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2011. It's valid for 30 days, and the only limitations are:

  1. Clone feature not available
  2. Bootable media can restore only

Please also note that the product may fail to access the network drive because you're pointing it onto the mapped drive: when you map a drive, it becomes mapped only under your Windows account. The Acronis product runs its tasks using the system account and so it is sometimes impossible to locate your mapped drive (especially when you are logged off).

In order to resolve the issue please use full UNC path instead of the mapped drive.

Please find more detailed in this KB article.

Should you have any questions - let us know.

Thank you.

Thanks, Yana. I'll look into this after the holiday. I appreciate your prompt response. Have a great Fourth!
