Using Acronis 2010 to restore IT WD HDD partitions to 150Gb Velociraptor DRive

Thread needs solution

I note there is a WD version of Acronis which I have downloaded but my backups are from a WD 1Tb Green drive.

Is it OK to use Acronis Standard to get these partitions onto my new 150Gb Velociraptor Drive?

Otherwise how do I get my WIN7 operating system partition onto the new drive - the other partitions can be copied from the tib backup files?

I have a Shuttle K45 desktop which has only one Sata drive connector.

Thanks

Assuming the old drive is smaller than the new drive, any easy way would be to connect the new drive, clone the sys drive onto it. take out old drive and insert new drive. Then with a partition manager, allocate the unallcoated space on the new drive to the main partition.

You could do it with backup files instead of cloning, but it gets more complicated unless you want to cough up for third, say, a usb drive.
