Using bootable disc to backup Bootcamp partition on Mac?

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I purchased the Win and Mac Version of TI 2015. I created a linux bootable disc from a Windows laptop on which I installed the latest TI version. Can I now use the bootable disc to boot my Macbook Pro and backup the Bootcamp Windows Partition? I tried it and it is still working but seems to work. At least I can boot my macbook from the disc, choose the bootcamp partition along with two other NTFS partitions and start a backup on my external USB hd.

But can I also recover it like that? I know I cannot backup my Mac OS X partition (or can I?).

Again: I am not talking about the versions that can be installed on Mac, I am talking about the Linux Boot Disc that can be created.

Thank you!

The notation at the bottom of this link indicates that what you desire is doable:

Excuse me, but I do not understand, you say it is doable, the last sentence in your link says "(Note that the Intel-based Apple Macintosh is not supported.)"

What does that mean? That I cannot backup the Mac partition or that I cannot use it at all on a Mac, even for the Windows bootcamp partition?

Thanks again

I see the confusion, Inrwl based means those with an Intel processor. Go to the upper left corner of the Mac, and click on the little apple. Just below you should see "About This Mac", click on it.

Then a window will pop up, and next to "Processor" it will either say PPC or Intel. If it shows as PPC then your machine is not Intel based.

Thank you very much - but I am still confused. You see, I have an Intel based Macbook - 2013 version. I installed Windows 8.1 via bootcamp and all I want to know now is:

Can I use Acronis' bootable recovery disc, backup ONLY the bootcamp partition and recover ONLY the bootcamp partition later on?

While Acronis boot disc can backup intel based devices your links says that INTEL Macs are NOT supported!? I am really confused.

The TI bootable recovery media is Linux based, so Linux is the host OS for the TI app when run from the bootable recovery media. So, the bootable media should be able to backup the bootcamp partition. As for recovery I do not have any personal experience in doing so therefore I cannot provide a definite yes or no answer. Based on my knowledge level I would think you could.
