Is v 2013 backward compatible with earlier images?
hello,
Reading the papers that came in the box it appears that images made with the later version of ATIH will not be able to be used with earlier ones.
Am I reading this incorrectly?
So once I install 2013 v 6514 all my previous backups are unreadable or unusable and I have to recreate them all?
I always that all versions of Acronis could be universally used by any version no matter what the date or version.
Thank you!

tuttle,
Thank you, your description makes more sense than the wording on the papers in the box.

Hey Tuttle
Have you actually tested if it's true?
The reason I'm asking is that I have a large number of disk images made by Acronis 2010. (all the images is made as partition backup of a whole disk from a laptop and typically contains 3 partitions).
Acronis 2013 is capable of finding the images and mounting them, but then i tried to actually restore the images the program start and run for a short while before it stops (the program is hanging).
I tried to reinstall the Acronis 2013 and it's working perfectly with images made by itself (unfortunately not with my 2010 images).
There is no problem by restoring the old images with Acronis 2010, they are not corrupt.
I hope you have a suggestion to what could causing this problem.
Warm regards

Thomas,
YOur best assurance of a successful restore is to use the same version which originally created the backup file. In most cases, a newer version has and will successfully restore a prior version backup but there is no guarantee as the hardware and drivers could differ. Many of us use a variety of methods to maintain a storage of prior CDs.
For example, I have a Grub4Dos flash drive which contains a Recovery CD ISO for each version of True Image from version 9 through version 2014. I boot to the Grub and have a menu access to any of the individual versions. Sections 1 and 3 at this link can create such a flash drive.

Others have reported labelling each CD and keeping it on a covered spindle.
