Validating backup on new Windows 10

Thread needs solution

Hi,
True image has always worked faultlessly for me on Windows 7. However, I received the automatic update to Windows 10 today and, of course, went straight to True Image to back up all the new data on my PC.
The backup itself (269GB) went onto my external hard drive with no problem, and I can subsequently access it.
However, I also have True Image set to validate the backup. It validated only up to 22.04GB and then my PC locked up and my only option was to shut it down and restart it. I then tried to do the same again and once more my PC locked up after it had validated the same amount of data.
Does anyone have an answer to this?
It would appear that the backup was successful and I should be able to restore from it if necessary, but validating the backup is a further safeguard which I would prefer to be able to use.
