Validating backups via Windows Explorer

Thread needs solution

I'm running Windows 7 Pro and HP 64 bit. I've been able to run the validation process in the past on backup files by right clicking on the file in Explorer and selecting Validate. This no longer works. Did something get changed? TIH 2011 Build 6942

Also, I've noticed if I double click on one of the backup files that instead of opening the file like it used to where you can drill down and do a file restore it now simply loops back to a a view that shows the folder the backup files are in. Not even the folder you started where you double clicked the backup file itself. No file is ever opened. I end up with an error "Access to file is denied". Where did this suddenly come from? I've never seen this with Acronis. Does this mean that after the update to 6942 that it forgot the username/pwd for accessing the NAS via FTP so I cannot access the files via Acronis? Backups occasionally fail now about "unable to open data stream". This app used to work once upon a time (older versions). Man what a disaster this program has turned into.

Anyone else having multiple issues?

Edit: get this. I can go to the NAS and open backup files for my desktop but not my laptop which is what I'm on (the laptop) and trying to access the laptop backup files. I can also validate my desktop files from my laptop but not my laptop which I'm on.
