Validation and shut down

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have Acronis True Image Home 2010. And I have 2 questions.

1. Is it a good idea to validate the backup after each incrimental backup? The incrimental backup takes only a few minutes, but the validation takes hours.

2. Can Acronis automatically shut down the computer after a backup task?

Thanks and merry christmas.

Thank you.

Is it better and quicker to make each time a full backup with valdiation or incremental backup with validation? Or no validation? I don't know what's best. Valdation takes a lot of time, so probably it would be better to do no validation.

Many of us start out having the validation performed to confirm that the file is not corrupt. After a period of no validation problems, many will then perform the validation only randomly.

However, you should occasionally perform the validation when booted from the TI Rescue CD. It is the Rescue CD which must be used to restore you system partition or system drive so the CD is a real key. Use the CD to occasionally perform both a Backup and Restore so you will know for sure that the CD can see your hardware.

And of course, the real test is to actually perform a real test restore so you have confidence in the integrity of your backups.

I would also point you to this link which offers more flexibility.

And another possible option would be to create the incremental backup, then validate it at a later time. I normally backup from the CD but after it's done, boot back into Windows and run the validation in the background so it doesn't interfere with my other work.
