Is validation assured by a successful restore?

Thread needs solution

True Image has an option to validate an archive before restoring. If I skip that option and the archive restores successfully, does that mean the archive is valid? Is it possible for the restore to finish successfully despite some kind of data corruption?

The validation process verifies that Acronis can read the entire backup file without errors. If you have successfully restored your backup, then the file was valid. If there was any corruption of the backup file, your restore would have been terminated with an error.

The validation is a way to be certain that the backup file(s) can be used to recover the drive/partitions/folders and files contained within it.

If you are performing disk or partition restores, Acronis will delete the drive or partition contents before the restore begins. If you have not validated the file, and do not have any other backup, you would be left with a blank, or unusable, drive or partition if the restore fails due to a problem reading the backup file(s).

When restoring, I think it's prudent to check the option to validate the file before restoring. That way any failure will occur before your target drive has been wiped.
