Version Identification

Thread needs solution

Is there any way to identify which version of TI created a .tib file? I'm getting a "The selected file is not an Acronis True Image Home archive" when attempting to restore a backup using TI 2010 or 2014.

The file name has a v1 at the end; does that signify anything?

Thanks.

at the very least, there must be a file extension of tib at the end, such as
v1.tib

There is no way for a user to identify which version created the tib file.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The file extension is .tib. It's the first part of the file name that ends with v1.

Show us a picture of the complete file name, or type the full name so we can see or visualize the complete name.

Try vaidating the backup file.

Understand you cannot restore a newer file with an older version of TI,
but you should be able to restore or verify an older version using a newer version of trueImage.

2014 is most likely your only usable recovery or valiation CD.

Picture of the files in question are attached.

Validation attempt also indicates that they are not TI files. I don't recall what version these were created with, but I'm sure it was an earlier version than 2014 based on the dates. TI 2014 won't validate or recognize them.

Thanks,

These also could be version 2013 but the 2014 should recognize. 2014 was released about Sept 2013.

Do you have 2014 installed? If yes, go to the storage folder and RIGHT click on the full backup listed as
Full_b1_s1_v1 and the resulting window should offer an Acronis option and within those options should be the Validte option.
See of just the full will validate. If validation succeeds , then try the
Inc_b1_s6_v1
Maybe its only the most recent Inc which is bad.

If you do not have 2014 or 2015 installed, then boot to the 2014 or 2015 Recovey CD and browse to FULL b1-s1_v1
and attempt to validate the Full only.

Normally, when validating , you select the newest and that begins the validation of all the files.
What I am trying to do is to see if the Full is good without any incs attached. If the full checks, then we can validate other incs so we can see which inc is bad causing your issues.
