What is "prs_report.exe"? (TI 2010)

Thread needs solution

prS or prL?

prl_report.exe is the Acronis gizmo that allows TI to receive information about your TI setup.

You can run it from a command line if you wish. You should hve been given an option when you installed TI2010 as to whether you wanted to particpiate in the customer product scheme.

There is also the Acronis system report tool

Thanks for the info, Bodgy; and yes, I mistyped L as S (so close together on the keyboard :-)

I do remember magnanimously participating in the scheme, so that's fine. Just as a suggestion to Acronis, maybe they could document or pre-advise the name of the program that does this, or at least fill in some of the "Properties" of the .exe ... I got a bit paranoid following an earlier infestation of my machine.

Is there a competition to guess what "PRL" stands for, I wonder?

Hi There!

I am receiving this message:

prl_report.exe has stopped working. Why do I receive this and is Acronis malfunctioning? Is there a way to stop this window from coming up?

Thanks.

Stephan

@Stephan,

One way to stop it is to disable the reporting option. TIH itself probably isn't malfunctioning but something is certainly stopping the reporting program from working properly.

How do I stop reporting functions?

Thanks.

Open TIH and click on the cog icon in the top right hand corner of the menu bar, click on Customer Experience Program' disable customer reporting.

This executable might also track other things to do with the actual TIH install, it definitely is the component that runs the error reporting tool.

Colin, thanks for the tip!

I noticed my laptop was really laggy and found prl_report running. It must have been running for at least 5 minutes before I found this post. I killed prl_report and stopped participation in the Customer Experience Program. The participation led to a bad experience (:-).

I received pop-up notice that "prl_report.exe has stopped working" and "Windows is collecting more information about the problem." Then another pop-up "Do you want to send more information about the problem?"

Should I care about this?

Second question: is it time to move to Acronis 2015?

TI 2014
What concerned me was that the prl_report.exe showed an IP 91.195.23.101 ces.acronis.com Region Russian Federation. I have now opted out.
