When will Acronis actually provide a non-stop backup?
Non-stop backup seems like a good idea. You continuously back up files to a connected drive, so if you goof up, you can quickly retrieve a backup copy. A good addition to the regular backup.
If only non-stop backup had been non-stop! But at some point the non-stop backup thinks there is too much load on the system and pauses itself. Makes sense. What does not make sense is that to get it running again I have to reboot the machine. I have read a KB article about it, so I reckon that this is by design. (The KB article suggests that it may help to restart the service. It hasn't.)
Design or not, this is bad behaviour. I may not even sit at the computer when the Pause message flashes up. The only reasonable behaviour would be that it every once in a while resumes to see if the load has gone down.
I'm using Acronis True Image 2011. I have not been able to read out anything from the marketing blurbs that this is something has been addressed. Have missed something?
If Acronis does not plan to fix this, they will need to find a name that does not give false promises. Bop-till-you-drop backup, maybe.
