Which version?

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to figure out which version I need. What I would like to do is boot up from an Acronis CD, and backup/restore an image of local the computer over the network. The computers I would be using this on would either be Windows XP or Windows 7. Whenever I get new computers, I would like to make an image of the drive before the first use.

I tried doing this with True Image Home 10, but it only lets me backup to a local device.

Should I get Acronis B&R Workstation, or Acronis B&R Advanced Workstation?

Hello Ken!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here!  I understand your scenario, and will be glad to help you!

Acronis True Image Home 2011 should be sufficient in this case, since it definitely allow to backup to any location you would like both from Windows and bootable CD.

Unfortunately backup procedure from the CD is not available in the trial bootable media, it's one of the limitations of the demo version, but you can contact our Sales department directly for the full functional test version. We've also added some functionality to the product, so you may find our User's Guide useful.

Please also keep in mind that according to the Acronis License Policy you will need one license for one computer your are going to backup or restore. Thus you will need new license for the new machine you're imaging from the CD. This policy may seem inconvenient, but I'm glad to inform you that we do have volume licenses, and discounts for such cases. For this you also need to contact our Sales department.

I will be glad to provide you with the direct contacts of the Sales Representative, responsible for your area, but I need to know your phone area code. Should you decide to get in touch with Sales, please, let me know your area code via PM, and I'll immediately send you the phone and e-mail.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
