Why Does TI 2009 Backup Up Less Data Than It Specified?

Thread needs solution

Using TI 2009, Build 9809.

Whenever I specify and start a full image backup, TI tells me that 96.26 gb will be backed up.

When the backup finishes, I look at my backup disk and see that the .tib file is about 60.62 gb.

This makes me nervous. Why the wide disparity? What happened to 36 gb? That's a pretty big number to go missing ... Is this a problem waiting to happen?

Anyone else concerned about this?

Thanks for any info,
Bill

Bill,

Have you Explored or Mounted the image to see if everything is there?

If compression is used (the default), the TIB file size will usually be smaller than the "amount of data" size. This is normal. Also, the paging file and hibernation file are not included in the TIB.

Thanks for the update, mudcrab -- I'll check it out.

Honestly (blush), I had forgotten that TI uses compression ... that would readily explain the differences in sizes.
