Hi Robert,
which Acronis product do you use?
Please check troubleshooting steps in the following articles:

Thank you,

It's now been 4 days of recovery from an external 2TB USB drive. It started giving me error dialog boxes saying "Failed to restore file or folder" and offering RETRY IGNORE and CANCEL. I've been hitting "I" for ignore. A few minutes later, the FAILED TO RESTORE... message appears again, sometimes followed immediately with another FAILED message. I hold down the "I" key which takes care of the next FAIL message. Now with "1 day 20 remaining" I'm holding down the I-key for 20 minutes and I see about 2 or 3 FAILED messages flash on the screen every second. So far I estimate 2000 files ignored.
Some of the files could be system files that I told Acronis not to overwrite but many of them are .MOV videos I created along with many many .JPG photos.
Question: does the restore quit working until the FAILED TO RESTORE dialog box is cleared with either RETRY IGNORE CANCEL entry?
If yes, do you really except the user to hold the I-key down for "1 day 20 hours remaining"?

Well, I have been holding down the I-key for well over 5 hours and it's still going. Every second there are 3 or 4 file errors stating FAILED TO RESTORE FILE OR FOLDER.
Remember, I've been holding the I-key down for 5 and 1/2 hours. If 2 files are displayed with errors every second (I think maybe 3 to 4 files per second) that equates to well over 40,000 files Ignored.

What chance to you think I have of a successful restore?

Any suggestions?

Hi Robert,
I'm afraid without investigation I cannot make any prognosis regarding recovery success.
Please contact our support for assistance with recovery problem: http://www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html
The first step I would suggest is starting recovery from bootable media of the latest product version. Bootable media with restore functionality can be created with trial version of the product.
Thank you,
