Will Acronis do this for me?

Thread needs solution

I have a Lenovo thinkpad R60 with a small SATA harddrive. I would like to put in a larger harddrive (320g) into the laptop. Can I use Acronis to image the smaller hard drive to the larger hard drive, then replace the small drive with the larger one in the laptop and have everything run OK? Thanks for the help!

Yes. The procedure should be like this:
- using the Acronis recovery CD to boot on, do a full disk backup (all partitions) of your current internal disk to an external USB disk,
- replace your internal disk with the new disk,
- restore one partition at a time, keeping all partitions the same size, except the C:\System partition, where you can adjust the size to take advantage of your additional space. Do not modify the size of the IBM partitions you will see on your disk,
- finally restore the MBR and track 0, including the disk signature.
