win 7 64 bit full backup TI 11 home

Thread needs solution

I just downloaded the most recent version of TI home 11 bootable iso. Used Nero to burn the ISO file. I then booted and tried to do a full backup of drive C on Gateway Win 7 64 bit. After about 2 minutes the backup was "Finished"???? I don't think so. I want to do a complete backup of drive C. I tried twice to do this,
1st try I got a message to insert last media of backup archive,,,,, I wasn't doing a restore

2nd try I got a successful completion that only took 2 minutes.

I've used DVD-R for the o/p media and the internal CD/DVD drive that came with the computer.

When I first set up the running of the backup I check options and put a check mark in both boxes: 1 - validate 2 - ask for last media on restore

Thank you for any help you can provice.

Marie

"c:" seen from bootable media may be windows 7 200 mb reserved partition, not actual C: volume.

Light bubl!!! It did say reserved partition. How do I get all of C including the OS?
Thanks so much for your reply

I don't even know what a Reserved Partition is.

Tick the complete disk 0 box.

The other thing that is a good idea would be to give your actual 'C' partition a name in Windows. When you use the CD the Os is Linux, which as you've found will often give different drive letters to that in Windows to the partitions. Drive names (labels) don't change, so it is easier to see what is what under Linux.

I'm new to Win 7 so would you please tell me how to name the drive(s). Thanks so much.

After much browsing Acronis forum for problems with TI Home 11 etc. I'm beginning to think Acronis may not be an answer for me as a good utility to use for backup.

If you have My Computer shortcut on your desktop, the easiest way is to double click on it, your installed drives and partitions will appear.

Right click on the 'C' drive and select 'rename' from the list that pops up. The 'C' drive entry will then highlight, type in whatever name you desire. Click outside the box to finish.

If you don't have My Computer shortcut on your desktop, fire up Explorer and just right click on the drive entry in the left hand list column.

Make sure you refer to your copy of TI as 2011, version 11 is about 3 years old and quite different - people could become confused.

I do not have the rename option that shows on your example. If I right click on drive c and chooe rename the current name (Gateway) turns blue and expects me to enter a name. I just backed out of that.

If your current 'C' partition has the name Gateway, then it is already labelled.
