Win 7. Acronis 2010 . Image creation. Analysing on and on and on BUT
I have a new Windows 7 Home Premium PC. I installed Acronis True Image 2010 and connected a used 250Gb external hard disk and created an image of the 1000Gb hard disc that had just bare bones software on it (total about 15GB). I included validation in the process and it completed in 23 minutes. I removed the 250Gb external drive. I then purchased a 1000Gb external hard disk and partitioned this into three partitions. I ran Acronis 2010 to create a fresh image (albeit it would be exactly as the image created on the previously used external hard disk) onto one of the partitons of the new hard disk. Acronis spent something like 20 minutes analysing partitions before advising that it would take 7 days to complete. i left it for about three hours and it still showed 1 day left. I aborted and remembered that I had a similar problem when I had XP and used the previous version of Acronis. This involved disabling "Distributed Link Tracking" If this is the same scenario I do not understand as to why earlier in the day it only took 23 minutes on the previous external hard disk. Could anyone advise?
