Windows 7 and TrueImage Echo workstation 10?
Just curious if there will be an update to allow echo v 10 to work with win 7, i dont see much on this in here...
Or, will there be a similar version out soon that also has universal restore that can run under win 7.
I realize i can boot to the CD and do backups, but i'd like to be able to schedule these under win 7 (x64).
Thanks

So, What is the closest thing to Echo workstation that will be compatible with Windows 7?

B&R Workstation 10 (Standard or Advanced) is the replacement program for Echo Workstation.

Wow. Looks like Acronis has lost a dedicated customer that's been using True Image since version 5.
Forcing me to pay for an upgrade for Windows 7 when Echo Workstation worked fine on Vista is forcing me, like many others, to take a long, hard look at the imaging functionality that is included in every version of Windows 7. As a consultant who is probably responsible for 40 or 50 sales a year through recommendations, I won't be recommending Acronis True Image any more. Way to lose customers because of being greedy.

I agree with you Kurt. There's no reason Echo Workstation shouldn't work with Windows 7. It seems to be quite deliberate. I will definitely not be buying Acronis' new version of Workstation either. Making your product deliberately incompatible with a formerly compatible OS in an unethical attempt to force people to upgrade is a low blow. Moves like this only encourage piracy.

I am also in agreemnet with this deliberate attempt to increase the bottom line when simply adding windows 7 compatibility would have been a simple fix.
I also am a consultant and now will be recomending another product possibly one of Acronis's competitors
I am getting tired of all the capitalist greed especially when customers have always been loyal now come to find it time to move on to another imaging provider.
Hope a lot more customer do the same power in numbers

If you just want to run Echo with no frills, then renaming the exe file to something else will get around the W7 banned list.
Note that there are differences in disk addressing and registry entries between Vista and W7 among other things.
So even though Echo can be 'persuaded ' to work on W7, it is a case of caveat emptor.
As ABR10 was released before W7 came out, it is not unreasonable (I think) for Echo to be not W7 ready or upgraded to W7.
OTOH for users of 2009 and DD10 this argument doesn't wash.

If it's not an upgrade to True image and considered a new product why then does it follow the Numbering sequence true image 9 then ABR 10?

Hello all,
I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.
As workaround you can create Acronis bootable disc with Acronis True Image Echo products and use it for backup/restore purposes of Windows 7. Note that we provide the user with the free upgrade if he/she owns a valid AMPS or AAP/ AAS license. Check the following KB article to learn more how to purchase Acronis support program.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.

I have been a long-time user of Acronis products, and have had miserable experiences with Support (until recently). I have found that the Home edition works well for most applications, but Echo Workstation didn't support Vista for the longest time (backups were password protected even though no password was used when creating the backup). I bought licenses for Echo and have never used them. I recently bought B&R 10 and I am unimpressed and have never used them either (in production). The documentation is poor and the product non-intuitive. I have a need to restore a Windows 7 environment onto a different disk configuration (drive type) and Echo Universal restore should do it, but apparently it won't work for Windows 7. I share everyones frustration with this requirement to go from Echo to B&R 10 in a Windows 7 environment...shameful if you ask me.
