Windows 7 and Virtual PC

Bill,

1) I have read reports of restores not working with ATI 2009 under Windows 7. I have been running an early released version of ATI Home 2010 (build 5,055) all this month (Nov '09) and have tested a few restores from both continuous backup and regularly scheduled backups with success. Considering the relatively low upgrade price, I expect I will upgrade after the trial expires in a few more days. I am concerned about threads indicating problems with later builds.

2) I tried Windows XP Mode briefly (and uninstalled it again); basically, it maps your regular documents folders into the virtual machine. If the program is a well-written XP program and saves your files in Documents and Settings rather than on the root of the drive or in Program Files or some such, you should be able to find them right where you'd expect to find them if it were running regularly.

I chose to exclude the .vhd (virtual hard drive) file created for XP mode from continuous backups but did back it up as part of the drive backup.

Thanks, David. What's your opinion of the imaging, backup, and restore that's built into Windows 7? I'm wondering whether to use that or toi upgrade my ATI .......
