Windows Live Mail backup no longer works in ATIH 2013

Thread needs solution

I've upgraded from ATIH 2012 to 2013.

I've a backup setup for Windows Live Mail 2011. It worked without problems in ATIH 2012. It works no longer in ATIH 2013.

Error message in the event log (Windows Live Mail database error):
Fehler beim Backup. (0x40019)
Tag = 0xCE542E14DA203B82
Microsoft Windows Live Mail-Datenbankfehler. (0x58000A)
Tag = 0x4E986B3AA150AC28
(0x58000A)
EseError = FFFFFFFFFFFFF9BD)
Tag = 0x3BD092916CD02A60

I've already tried to create a new Mail backup, but I got same error. I've also verified / re-entered account credentials. I don't know what else I could do.

It looks like ATI finds some issue with your WIndows Live Mail Database.
- first thing to try is to boot in clean boot environment. To do that, launch msconfig, disable all non-Microsoft services and all startup items. If you use Windows Security Essentials, disable this. Reboot. Try again.
- if that doesn't work, try to uninstall ATI, reboot and reinstall. Retry.
- if that doesn't work, launch Windows live mail. Click on the upper left corner to see the menu. Choose email options, advanced, maintenance. Take note of the location of the Mail Folders. Close Live Mail. Go to the folder location using Windows explorer (you might have to un-hide hidden files to see that folder), and move the current Windows Live Mail Folder to some other place on the computer. Launch Windows Live Mail, recreate your first email account. If you have a POP account, leave the mail on the server for a while. After each account setup, try the backup. If ATI chokes again, try to uninstall Windows Live Mail and reinstall it.
- If that doesn't work, there is probably some registry issue and you will need Acronis to help you debug it. If it works, you might have found there is a problem with a specific email account.

I have the same problem - cannot backup Windows Live Mail with ATI 2013.

Error message:
"Microsoft Windows Live Mail - date.
Operation has completed with errors.
Error occurred while backing up. (0x40019)
Tag - 0xCE542E14DA203B82 Windows Live Mail database error (0x..
Creat Incremental Backup Archive
From: My Email"

I notice that the "Tag" (whatever that means?) also occurs in the error message received by customer Phlox.

The possible solutions provided by Pat L may solve the problem but, I think, are too complex for the novice/average user.
Does Acronis acknowledge that there is a problem?

I should mention the following:

When I select Settings there is a message "Specify credentials for this location". I clicked on ths message and entered my Windows user name (as it appears on the Windows start screen) and entered my Windows password. The message then changes to "Edit credentials". When I click the Backup Now button, the backup starts but fails and the message returns to "Specify credentials for this location".

My emails are stored in the following location:

Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Users>Geoff>AppData>Local>Microsoft>Windows Live Mail.

My OS is Windows 7 32 bit (but thinking about changing to Windows 8) with IE9.

It looks like there is a software conflict where ATI cannot access the mail folders or retain the credentials.
The solution proposed in post #1 helped me fix a Windows Live Mail Database issue that Windows Mail was showing. I had to eventually delete the existing mail folders / content for one email account to get his fixed.

But this case seems different now. I will highlight this thread for the Acronis staff to look at.

It looks like this problem occurs only with an outdated version of the Windows Live Mail program. Looking at the various forums I decided to install Windows Live Mail 2012 and the Email backup is working correctly.

Before I installed Windows Live Mail 2012 I renamed the Windows Live Mail folder to Email Backup just to give it another name. After the new version of Windows Live Mail was installed I deleted the Windows Live Mail folder which came with it. I then renamed the Email Backup folder to Windows Live Mail. Both Windows Live Mail 2012 and True Image 2013 Email Backup work fine.

The procedure described above is rather simple and shout also work fine for beginners.

Hello Bruno
I presume you renamed the Windows Live Mail folder as a precaution against loosing its contents when you installed WLM 2012.
Did you keep the folder in its original location, i.e.
Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Users>"Username">AppData>Local>Microsoft>Windows Live Mail

I have just installed WLM 2012 (without renaming any files) from the following website:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/essentials-home
It automatically replaced my old versions of Windows Live Mail and Family Safety (I do not use any of the other options in Essentials).
WLM 2012 works fine (all my emails and contacts remained intact) but Acronis email backup is still failing.

Hi Geoffrey

you are right with your assumption that I renamed the Windows Live mail folder as a precaution against loosing any content. Yes, WLM 2012 can be installed without this precaution.

I kept the renamed Windows Live Mail folder in its original location (... Local>Microsoft).

The only difference I can detect in what you did is the Family Safety. I don't use it. Perhaps you can try again without this option.

Hello Pat L

Have you had any response from Acronis?

Since you kindly responded to my comments in January, I have installed Internet Explorer 10 and Windows Live Mail 2012.
When I try to backup Windows Live Mail Using Acronis True Image 2013 (Email Backup) I get exactly the same results as I reported previously.
The backup appears to start but soon comes up with a fail message.

All my other ATI backups (Partitions, Non-stop, Libraries, Downloads) work fine.

Windows Live Mail 2013 works without any problems.

Nope, I have no news to report from Acronis.
