Thread needs solution

Can True Image image and/or clone a Windows XP Pro/Linux Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot hard drive?

Provided your partitions are within these format list, you are OK: http://kb.acronis.com/content/13648

To avoid any issue, do your imaging and cloning from the recovery CD. Including all partitions in the backup that are on your system disk.

Thanks for that info Pat. The formats I use are on that list.
I usually use the restore disc for my cloning and imaging, do you know if True Image 6053, I think it's the 2010 version, will be able to clone/image the dual boot drive or do I need True Image 2012? I would just go ahead and try the 6053 but I'm worried it may screw up the source disc.

If you do the backup/restore from the bootCD there is no risk to the source disk. From the bootCD, when you select what to backup, make sure you select the entire disk (check the box at the disk level) so that the MBR and all the partitions are included. This is the safest backup you can do.
After the backup is completed, restore a couple of files from each partition (remember that the recovery CD will display drive letters different from what Windows will show you - make sure you look at the labels of your partitions).
If you can restore successfully a couple of files, you can be much more confident a restore will work. Of course, only a true restore eventually test this.

I don't go into too much detail on these backups, just a straight clone of the boot drive from one drive to another identical drive. I'll give the Acronis Restore CD I have a shot, hopefully it will work.
Thanks again for your assistance.
