Writing to ext3 partition possible in another version/package?

Thread needs solution

I am using ATI since 2005 (version 8). When I had upgraded to version 11, I was disappointed that the support for writing the images to ext3 partitions has been removed.

I hoped that it will return in a future version. But when I read the supported filesystems/requirements, ext3 does not show up.

Yes, I know that ext3 can be saved, but I want to store on an ext3 partition.

Is there any chance that ATI will include this feature? If not, I will have to find another solution (due to the fact that I can not use the version 8 any more).

Greetings, Martin

Hello Martin,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

The current version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 can’t save backup images on Ext3 partitions either.

The Ext2/Ext3, ReiserFS, and Linux SWAP file systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations. You cannot use Acronis True Image Home for file-level operations with these file systems (file backup, recovery, search, as well as image mounting and file recovering from images), as well as for backups to disks or partitions with these file systems.

If a file system is not supported or is corrupted, Acronis True Image Home 2010 can copy data using a sector-by-sector approach.

I may recommend you to have a look at Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Linux for your purposes. You can download free trial version and test it first.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
